Do I own my domain, website, and content?
Yes, all of it, in your name. The domain, the hosting account, the code we write, and your content stay yours from day one. We don't hold your site hostage, and you can move it elsewhere whenever you want without asking us for a login.
Is SEO a forever monthly fee?
No. We build the technical SEO foundations into the site: fast pages, clean markup, metadata, schema, and sitemaps, all as part of the project. That doesn't expire when an invoice stops. Ongoing SEO is optional, not a subscription you're locked into to keep what you already paid for.
Do I actually need custom development, or just a redesign?
Often a redesign on your current platform is enough, and we'll tell you that. You need custom development when the site has to do something a template can't, like booking logic, a member area, or an integration, or when the current build is too fragile to extend. If it's mainly a look-and-feel problem, design-only is the cheaper, faster answer.
What's the difference between a custom-coded site and a WordPress site?
A custom-coded site is built in code we write (React, plus Next.js when the site needs server rendering), which gives us full control over speed, features, and behaviour. A WordPress site is a CMS you log into and edit yourself, which is great when the team needs to publish often without a developer. Neither wins in the abstract. It comes down to whether you value control and performance or day-to-day editing more.
When is a custom build worth it versus a template?
A template wins when the site is mostly standard pages and the budget is tight. A custom build is worth it when speed materially affects sales, when you need functionality off-the-shelf themes can't carry cleanly, or when you're tired of every change becoming a fight with the platform. We size this honestly so you're not paying for engineering you won't use.
Will I be able to update the site myself after launch?
Yes, and we set that up to match your team. If you want to edit pages yourself, we build on a CMS like WordPress or hand you simple editing zones. If you'd rather not touch it, we can stay on for updates. Either way you're not stuck depending on us.
Do you only work with businesses in Toronto?
Toronto and the GTA are the focus, including Mississauga, Vaughan, Markham, Richmond Hill, and nearby Ontario communities. The build work itself is remote-ready, so we take on the right projects from further afield too.
Can you show real custom builds you've engineered?
Yes. PairSend (pairsend.com) is a live cross-platform file-sharing product and Vicode (vicode.io) is a live builder collaboration platform, both built in Next.js. Ravine Row Architecture is an editorial studio site we built as a concept piece. We label concept builds as concepts, so you can always tell engineered client work from a demonstration.
How fast will the site load on a phone?
Fast is the whole point of building custom. We control the code, so we control load speed and mobile layout directly instead of inheriting whatever a theme ships with. We test on real mobile conditions before launch, because a slow phone page is where most GTA enquiries quietly disappear.
What do you need from me to scope the project?
Send your current site if you have one, a short note on what's not working, any features you need, and a rough budget range. From that we can tell you whether you're looking at a custom build, a CMS, or a redesign, and roughly what each would involve, before you commit to anything.
